We Believe People Can Change
The Mission of Iowa Community Based Corrections is to enhance community safety and facilitate positive change in adult offenders. We promote, law-abiding behavior through culturally competent supervision, accountability, treatment, education and community programming in an innovative and cost effective manner.
Founded in 1973, the Sixth Judicial District (6JD) covers pretrial services, probation, parole, and work release for a six county area in Iowa (Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Tama). The 6JD is administered by a local Board of Directors supported by seven advisory committees.
The new national Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards for all prisons and community corrections agencies went into effect August 20, 2012. To promote safety, the District has developed policies and procedures and administered training for staff, volunteers, contractors and offenders. In keeping with our mission, the District is committed to ongoing monitoring ensure compliance with the Act.
